My services include our initial meeting and as many meetings as necessary for the planning and preparation of your ceremony, wedding rehearsals, the performance of your beautiful ceremony on the day, a keepsake copy of your ceremony and lodgement of all your legal documents for registration of your marriage. And, of course, I am available to you at any time for unlimited telephone calls and email communication for advice and assistance.
WHAT ARE THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS?
In order to be legally married in Australia
- You must not be married to someone else
- You must not be marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister
- You must be at least eighteen years old, unless a court has approved your marriage where one of you is aged between sixteen and eighteen years old
- understand what marriage means and freely consent to becoming husband and wife
- use specific words during the ceremony
- give written notice of your intention to marry to your authorised celebrant at least one month prior to your ceremony (Notice of Intended Marriage)
WHERE AND WHEN CAN YOU GET MARRIED?
Your wedding can take place at any time of day, on any date or in any place. I am happy to travel to your special location and am authorised to conduct your ceremony anywhere in Australia.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO FIRST?
Once you have decided on your wedding date and venue, it is a good idea to choose your celebrant. That way, you can be sure that everything is booked to take place on your preferred wedding date.
Should you wish me to conduct your ceremony, we will arrange our first meeting where we will discuss your ceremony details and get to know one another.
We can also complete the Notice of Intended Marriage, which must be completed at least one month prior to your ceremony and is valid for 18 months.
I will also explain what documents you need to produce to me before your wedding may take place.
And, of course, we will organise our next meeting where we really start the planning process towards your perfect wedding ceremony.
